Why does End Date increase when a payment is still Pending

Not sure if this has always been occurring but just spotted this

Join for first year, complete payment, end date of Dec 11 2014

Renew with Pay Later, while payment is still Pending, the Membership End Date changes to Dec 11 2105

and of course this shows on the Membership page ie

Your Full membership expires on December 11th, 2015.

This doesn't seem correct.

Can anyone confirm if this has been an intended change, an unintended consequence of some other fix or ..... ?

That is strange Pete, I was just testing the whole membership workflow with a customer and we did not have this problem....that was on 4.3.5. What version where you working on?

Hey Erik - yes i should have been clear on that 4.4.2

i will get it upgraded tomorrow if poss to see if this is a bug that has already been squished but didn't spot this in the forum.

but that of course made me go and test on demo - and it works as expected there - so hopefully the upgrade will fix it.
