Staggered Mailings

I think that a useful feature would be a facility to set the maximum number of emails to send out, followed by the frequency of this maximum.

This means that if, to catch errors early, we want to batch up our emails that we wouldn't need to create separate mailings and set them to be on different days. Personally I'd rather never send out an email with more than 5000 or so contacts at once, because if one of them reports an error, that error impacts all of your contacts, not just the initial batch.

What do you think? This would probably also help with things like SMS where you may not want to burn through all your credits in a single swoop.

If you like empowering charities in a free and open way, then you're going to love Civi.

I think this conversation is more along the lines of "A/B testing" rather than staggered mailings

note that depending on your group size, 5000 might be too big or too small a number. And if you do regular mailings, trying to chunk and monitor each batch might be a lot of trouble.

There are controls on how many mails to send per cron and u can potentially use that. I'd recommend someone do some research on mailchimp/constant contact and see how they address the problem if at all
