CiviCRM Contribution pages giving 404 error
December 16, 2013, 07:11:13 am
Hi,

I installed CiviCRM fresh with version 4.4.1. Meanwhile I upgraded to 4.4.2 and then today to 4.4.3.

I don't know if it was from upgrading to 4.4.2 or caused by a clean up of redundant files through ftp (there were two copies of the joomla outside and inside public_html - we removed the files outside), but now are having two problems:

1. I can get access to the civicrm admin page, but not one link within it works.

I am talking about this menu e respective submenu itens:

Customize Data and Screens
Communications
Localization
Users and Permissions
etc.

However I can get access to the pages if I go through the dropdown administration menu in the civicrm main menu bar.

2. I don't know if it is related, I also had two contribution pages working before this and now only newly created ones work [the old ones: one goes to homepage after trying to make a contribution and the other one, after I tried to change some settings, started giving 404 error page).

I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Looks like your install is bit messed up, I would suggest clean install of 4.4.3

Yes. :( But will I lose all the data in the civicrm database?

May be try uninstall CiviCRM and then copy new tarball files and install again. Note that uninstall won't delete data from your db. But do make a backup of your db.

Thanks. I've done as you suggested, uninstalled and installed again. However:

1. He installed as an upgrade (I don't know if it was supposed to)
2. The Administer CiviCRM and sublinks still give error 404
3. The latest contribution page I created, which was working, is now giving error 404 too. :(

Unfortunately we don't have at all. We are a brand new social solidarity org just starting now. We're not even public yet. We are dependent on the website being finished and this is 1 of the 2 issues making us postpone its launch.

[Update]

The administration menu sublinks are now working. Only the contribution pages created still give error 404.

I've been looking around and I changed last november 27 "payment options" into our website language in:

templates/CRM/Contribute/Form/Contribution/Main.tpl

I am wondering if the problem is related, as I can easily open the contribution pages in test mode - and it shows 'payment options' in our language and not in english as in the currently main.tpl file in our server.

I have changed meanwhile again the content of that file into our language, this line more precisely:

    <legend>{ts}Payment Options{/ts}</legend>

But it did not work either. It still gives error 404 in all old and newly created contribution pages.

I would appreciate all the help you can give. Civicontribute is one of the main reasons we installed civicrm and we have 3 pages in our website not working now, because they are contribution pages... Moreover, the whole personalization of civicrm to meet our needs was a lot of hard work, I would really like to try to avoid having to delete the database as well.

You should check the permissions for public users. For contribution pages to be viewable, the "Make online contributions" permission will need to be enabled. If you have profiles in the page, you will also need the "Profile Create" permission enabled.

You can change these permissions in the Joomla Global Config, or in Civicrm->Administer->User and Permissions->Permissions->Joomla Access Control.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

We uninstalled civicrm and deleted the database and installed everything again, so there won't be a chance to try that solution.

It is working now, so far, fortunately.
