Payment processors - is there a problem with having more than one option
April 16, 2008, 11:14:25 pm
I notice in civiEvent that it only allows one Payment Processor.

We are looking at POLi which is an online processor that links in with direct debit via online banking rather than via credit card. It would tie in well with having say PayPal for credit card payments. And of course gives all those people who don't have, or don't want to use, credit cards the option (for us in NZ and Aus and UK and Holland at present I think).

What is going to be involved so we can offer both options when someone registers - we will of course face this with contributions too.

This will require a schema change and some amount of code changes across the code base to account for multiple processors per contribution page. As such i dont think this will be a trivial project or a weekend hack (could be a long weekend hack!)

This is not on our roadmap for the short-medium term. This will need to come in as a community contribution or a sponsored project

Ah well, was worth hoping for  ::)

Since I have had some success knocking their fees down I may as well go the whole hog and try and get them chip in for the hacking costs  ;)

Is this something that is independent of the Drupal/Joomla divide? Just wondering where I look for support?

yes, this is independent of the joomla/drupal divide (most things in CiviCRM are!)

There have not been too many requests for this feature. sporadically folks will ask about it (and someone has added it to the uservoice suggestions)

I am interested in having more payment options available. Or a bridge to zen cart, which we use now, it allows for payment choices: paypal, cc, or mail in a check. I don't want to stop folks from registering from an event because they don't have a paypal account.

Pay by check / Pay later is a 2.0 feature which you can use in combination with any payment processor

ability to support multiple payment processors / integration with zen cart is not on the feature list for 2.1 / 2.2. You will need to make a code contribution if this feature is important for you.
