Issue with site base url
December 22, 2013, 01:27:56 pm
I am having a problem with multiple sites where the base url for the site is not utilized across all links. This results in some confusing behavior. I'll describe the issue using one site as an example.

At present the site url is set to include 'www' in both the civicrm.settings.php and the settings page in admin section. This was done 3 days ago to resolve a previous instance of the issue. However many links do not use the 'www' and some that do include it lead to 'Access Denied' pages. Removing 'www' manually in the address bar in those instances allows the link to be followed. The widgets on the dashboard also display as the whole webpage with an 'Access Denied' message even with refreshing the dashboard and clearing caches.

I have resolved the issue at present by removing 'www' from the civicrm.settings.php file and the settings page and clearing the caches, though I anticipate it will return in a few days, subsequently being fixed by re-adding 'www' to the default address.

Have you set your .htaccess Drupal file to force one or the other? Using both can also cause session issues, so picking one would be recommended.
