Trying to change contribution type results in error 001

Hi -
We have a problem with our CiviCRM database that I hope you can help with. 

When editing an individual to change the contribution type from 'event fee' to 'grant', we get an error. I have attached the backtrace.

Please let me know if you need any further info. Thanks!
