Member Forums with CiviCRM site?
December 30, 2013, 11:44:25 pm
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to enable a forum (like this one but smaller) within a civicrm website install? Basically, authenticating with the username and password for the organization member. Or is that something where I should have a Wordpress user (in this instance using civicrm plugin for WP) automatically generated by authorizing a new civicrm user (I think I saw that capability) and then using one of the many wordpress forum plugins for authorized users only?
Thanks for any counsel anyone can provide.

I would probably recommend using Wordpress for the forum stuff.....but I only have Drupal experience!

Yes, we did it with WP users for each Civi contact, then BBpress forums. When someone logs in they get assigned a role by Wordpress CiviMember Role Sync Plugin, then Press Permit (http://presspermit.com/) controls forum access based on these roles.
