Date format on import
January 14, 2014, 01:41:19 pm
Hello

Looking for some help. When I try to import a batch of activities from a CSV file, I'm having a problem with the date. Here's a sample line from the CSV file: 24536,27/07/2013 22:20,signed petition,47

The date is UK format, dd/mm/yyyy. I select the relevant option for date format on the import screen: dd/mm/yyyy (25/12/1998) OR (1/9/2008)

Unfortunately it seems to be doing mm/dd/yyyy the US format. For instance a record from 9th january 14 has ended up as  1st september 2014. It also produces errors during the import whenever it detects that the first block (xx/yy/zz) is greater than 12.

Is this a bug?

Ewan

Please provide information on your system (version of CiviCRM, type and version of CMS etc).

Also please provide background information such as: is this a brand new install or something you have inherited?,  have you ever done a successful import involving dates or is this the first import with dates you have tried?, has the system been upgraded recently?.

Personally I can import dates successfully and, as the forum is not flooded with questions of this type, so can most of the rest of the CiviCRM users, so chances are we need information on your specific site to provide advice.  (This is, of course, assuming you searched the forum for similar topics before you posted and found none.)

Sure

Ubuntu server, Drupal 7, Civi 4.4

I upgraded the Civi and drupal installs today so everything is completely up to date. We've never tried importing with dates before, we had issues with the file size of our contacts import so we never got to activities etc.

You will probably think I am being a pain, particularly as I am not actually going to be able to solve your issue, but people who might be able to need a full picture, so here goes.

I obviously wasn't specific enough - this information should be provided in the your forum profile so that it appears on the left under your name. That way people can see at a glance what version is involved.  Also 4.4 is not enough information as that could mean 4.4.0, 4.4.1, 4.4.2, or 4.4.3.

Also you wrote:

Again that might not be enough information.  Upgraded from what? 4.3.7  or was it a really old install so you upgraded form drupal 6 to drupal 7 and civicrm 3.4. to 4.4.3?

Lastly - I forgot to put this in my original post - are you able to replicate this problem on the drupal demo site http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/?

I resolved this issue by reformatting my data.
