Multisite for the event management in WordPress
January 17, 2014, 06:55:41 am
Update: I created new question about this to the CiviEvent thread hopefully with more  clear description http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,31359.0.html.

Our client is organizing a conference for students in the summer. We have enabled Multisite feature in WordPress and have added separate site for the conference. Organisators of the conference have built the site. Now we should set up the event in CiviEvent for the registration purposes (online form with contribution etc.) and limit the organisators' access only to their own event (participants & contributors).

I have set up a multisite in development environment following the Multi Site Installation wiki page for the conference, but I'm not sure about the steps required to build organisation/group hierarchy. Which groups and organisation contacts  I have to create and how they should be nested in group hierarchy? In Wiki page there is mention about "you will notice a group with the name as that of domain" on "manage groups" screen, but I didn't find it, so I created it by hand, but wasn't sure if it's properly done. Now I have group hierarchy:
  • Main Organisation Group ID 9
    • Main Domain Group ID 10
  • Conference Organisation Group ID 11
    • Conference Domain Group ID 12

Should the Conference Organisation Group be nested under Main Organisation Group? Should the organisation contacts be joined to the domain group or to the organisation group?

I have created Site Administrator role in WP (cloned from Administrator role) for the organisators to give them restricted access to the CiviCRM Event management, but they can't see the participants (and they should).

Thanks, Jouni
