Allowing people to see petitions after they've signed?
January 19, 2014, 02:55:02 am
I just started testing the petition tool to see if it would work for us, and was surprised to see that after I signed it, it won't show the petition again, instead saying "You have already signed this petition."

Is there a way to make it so that it doesn't show that message, and instead lets people see (and possibly sign) the petition again?

It is very common amongst our users for one person to sign one of our petitions and then have somebody else in their household sign it, too.  But with the default way petitions work in CiviCRM, that's not possible unless they know to clear their cookies.  Most other petition tools (e.g. MoveOn and CREDO's) just show the petition again even if somebody has signed it.

Thanks,

- Trent

Since you are on drupal why not use the webform_civicrm module to display the petition? Webforms give you much more fine-grained control over stuff like that.

Thanks for the suggestion.  We haven't used the Drupal webform_civicrm module before.  Are you suggesting that we use it _instead_ of the normal petition module in CiviCampaign, or somehow use them together?

Thanks,

- Trent

It depends on your needs. Webform-CiviCRM does integrate with CiviPetition, so if you need that, go for it. But I'm not sure what benefit it gives over just doing standard webform submissions saved via webform_civicrm as CiviCRM activities. Maybe useful for reporting?

I was going to make the same suggestion as coleman. Webform is a very richly featured drupal module (likely to be in core in d8) and having it wired in to civicrm by coleman gives a really great set of tools.

Hi guys,

Any similar solutions for those of us on Wordpress?

Andy

Sorry I probably shouldn't have hijacked this thread... I've started a new one http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,33755.0.html

I think it is fine to ask about WP equivalents on a thread that focussed on Drupal solutions - since it is important to have these cross-over discussions since other WP'ers will also find this - so thanks for firing up the other thread and referencing it here
