problems installing joomla 1.5 with CiviCRM 2.0 fatal error

I followed all the instructions and it was going so smoothly until I got

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24 bytes) in /home/armadall/public_html/test2/libraries/joomla/filesystem/path.php on line 176

I had updated my htaccess file but couldn't find php.ini.  What went wrong?
