Complex application form
January 23, 2014, 04:27:47 pm
This is not a support request, just looking for input on whether what I want to do is feasible or possible with Civicrm. I need to create a fairly complex application form for an event or a course. I want the user to be able to fill in the form partially, save it, and come back to it later to edit and finish the form, and when they are happy that it is complete, to hit a 'submit' button to send the form to the administrator and lock the form from further editing. Is this doable by creating a suitable profile and publishing it as a form on the Drupal /Joomla front end? Has anyone done anything like this?
Thanks
Steve

this may (or may not) be useful to you:

might also want to check if webform (and hence webform_civicrm) has a module which does the autosave and remember part

Webforms on drupal is the recommended way to do this - it can accomplish everything you require (the save draft feature is built-in).
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Thanks for the input - I guess I was hoping to use Joomla, only because we are far more familiar with it and have done a few Joomla/ Civicrm deployments. I'll look at drupal web forms though.
