We tested this with a standard profile and didn't hit the issue, we then retested this with a participant profile and ran into the problem. I have attached the screenshots from our test.

We found this difference when we inspected the elements if that provides a pointer

Standard profile:
<div class="batch-update crm-form-block crm-contact-task-batch-form-block">

Participant profile:
<div class="batch-update crm-block crm-form-block crm-event-batch-form-block">

We believe this has arisen since version 4.2.10

See this post. By editing the number "9" in that file (set a custom PHP directory) you can increase the limit.

If this is not a technical action you feel comfortable doing, hire an expert.
