Need member type automatically change
January 31, 2014, 10:40:11 am
Hi every one,

I'm new with civiCRM (4.4.3), and will like to know if it's possible to configure the member types to change automatically when the membership expire:

exemple:

I've got two level of membership

Level A: 10$ for life subscription

Level B:  50$/year  but if not renew you automatically got Level A

is there a wait that civiCRM can do this on is own?

thanks in advanve for your help

Yes, you can achieve that by setting the parameters for the membership statusses, see http://book.civicrm.org/user/current/membership/what-is-civimember/

Erik - maybe i am not following your suggestion - but the question seems to be asking to change the Membership Type rather than Status. Think it can still be done that way?
I can't see a solution that doesn't involve a hook or other customisation

Yep Peter, you are right, I read too quickly.

My answer

should have been:

You can use the status to flow the membership process, but you will have to do customization to automatically change the case type!

Sorry!

Thanks guys.

Yes I figure than much...   maybe it could be good to have a membership fallback option in a upcoming update.

For the moment I use drupal + CiviMember Roles Sync to do it.

Exemple: Roles Sync Rules
Membership   Drupal Role       Current codes                     Expired codes
A                        A              New, Current, Grace       Expired, Cancelled, Deceased
B                        B              New, Current, Grace       Expired, Cancelled, Deceased
B                        A              Expired                       New, Current, Grace, Cancelled, Deceased

And it work just fine.

The down side is that from CiviCRM "membership" I cannot easily see the current membership.
