activities in timeline: can we set the subject?
February 03, 2014, 01:53:48 am
Hi,

In the example from the wiki, the subject isn't set for the activities in the timeline
http://svn.civicrm.org/civicrm/trunk/CRM/Case/xml/configuration.sample/HousingSupport.xml

I would like to have a generic activity type "task" and define more clearly what is the task in the subject instead of multiplying the case types in the timeline.

right now, I get task + "(no subject)"

I'd want to have
task "fetch newspaper"
task "brew coffee"
task "buy croissant"
...

Am I missing something or is this a matter of Patch welcome?

X+

It's been asked for before but I don't think it's currently available.

I'll just note that on the reporting side if there was a need for different custom fields for any of those activities then using the same activity may limit the levels of detail in your reporting.

thanks, I missed the previous discusion.

Having different activity types may make sense. Howver, I'm pretty sure "(no subject)" is hardly ever the most appropriate subject when you add a timeline ;)

In previous systems people would always leave the default and not put an appropriate subject, so blank was a compromise to force them to. There are probably better options that are more complicated.
