CiviHR - anyway to use only for select group of Contacts?
February 04, 2014, 09:34:47 am
I quite enjoy the functionality CiviHR provides. Is there a way for our Civi installation to serve both the needs of our constituents and our staff?  When I install any CiviHR extensions, and of course with the hrui extension, it changes our database as if every contact were a staff person that needs HR treatment. But I only want it for our 8 staffpeople. For our 2000-some constituents, I want to continue viewing them as the Members/Clients/Donors they are...

For now I believe you need to have two installs. CiviHR in one and your main donor database in the other. This is mentioned in this comment by Andrew who is the sponsor: https://civicrm.org/comment/7221#comment-7221. As far as I know this still applies and I will be posting a related question about how to back out the changes from the database. If I am correct it would be nice if this were more clear in the documentation.

Gotcha. Yes - backing out of the changes CiviHR installation makes, is a bit complicated.

I just realized now that my Reserved Relationships (Employer of, Head of Household is, and Household Member is) were Deactivated, and I could not reactivate them via the UI. I had to go edit the is_active values in the database...   >:(
