Searching for memberships end date in next month etc

Dave - would you accept a patch that would provide more options for the advanced search / membership - so that one can search for those that memberships will expire in the upcoming week/month/2months

seems to be a feature that is missing and would be v helpful in some membership management workflows

I know this is a year old - has there been any movement on this? It would really be a great feature.

I came across the below, but it's from 2007, so I don't know how applicable it would be. (I'm not a coder anyway.)

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1510.msg6548.html#msg6548

Ideal would be a list showing memberships due to expire in the next, say, 30 or 45 days so that management could keep track.

Thanks!

hi - my answer was going to be along the lines 'have you had a look at the demo site' since that is an obvious way to see if things have 'moved along' eg at http://d45.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/member/search?reset=1

but since i checked myself just as a way of getting you the link, it doesn't leap out to me that there is a 'next ...' set of options.

We seem to have
- this ...
- previous ...
- prior to previous ...
- previous 2 x ...
- to end of previous ...
- from start of current ...
- current ... to date
- last 3/2/1 year

etc

Do you agree with the above list?

Is what you are after therefore eg
- next ....
and/or
- next but one ...

Not sure we will persuade others to have these added since the list is pretty long already

I added a set of relative date filters about 6 months ago.  They were accepted, but at the time Michael McAndrew added the following comment in the forum topic about the change:

Quote
FWIW the current system is not scaleable and a better approach IMO would be to the change relative filter implementation from the current set up to a form that looked a bit more like

FROM: [N] [TIMEPERIOD]
TO:  [N] [TIMEPERIOD]

Where N can be a positive or negative integer and time period is a select for days, weeks, months, years.

Not that I am against adding more to the list - just saying :)

I have to admit I agree with him, although I would want the time period list to include more than those four options.  For example, does week mean "calendar week" or "7 days including today" or "7 full days" ie counting back from yesterday if N is negative and counting forward from tomorrow if N is positive?

However, for me it was a moot point as I didn't have the skills to change how the relative date filters work, only the ability to add yet another set.

Thanks, Joanne - I realized that I could accomplish most of what I wanted by creating an Expiring this Month report and a Grace Period report, both of which I've exposed on the Civi dashboard.

The client can also monitor the Activities for Sent Reminders (which are set to happen 30 days before membership end date.) I've also set up another scheduled job to go out 15 days afterwards, while the member is still in the Grace period.

This should allow them to keep a reasonably good eye on things, although a rolling "Expiring in 30 days" report would be excellent!
