Edit activity from search results link loses target contact in 4.3.8
February 07, 2014, 09:30:26 am
Hi,

We have replicated the following problem on 2 different sites running 4.3.8 (& one on 4.3.2). Steps to replicate:

1. Operating as Contact A, Create an activity (e.g. Meeting) for target = Contact B, with A as assignee.
2. Do an activity search that retrieves this activity.
3. From search results, click edit link for this activity.
Result: Activity edit form has blank space where target contact ("With contact") field should be, though field label is present.
4. Save the activity.
Result: The activity loses its target contact.

Could not replicate on drupal.demo.civicrm.org running 4.4.3.
Tried to replicate on old.drupal.demo.civicrm.org on 4.3.8 but unable to create activity - got this error every time:
"Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
is not of the type Int"

Is this a known problem that was fixed <= 4.4.3 ? Haven't found anything in JIRA.

EDIT: More info: it works when following an Edit link from the target or assignee contact's Activities tab, but not from activity search results. Example URLs:

Fails - from activity search:
/civicrm/activity/add?atype=1&action=update&reset=1&id=285&cid=392&context=search&key=27e905c73234a4720ae3ed3752cc93a4_5682

Works - from assignee's Activities tab:
/civicrm/activity/add?atype=1&action=update&reset=1&id=285&cid=1471&context=activity

Works - from target's Activities tab:
/civicrm/activity/add?atype=1&action=update&reset=1&id=285&cid=392&context=activity

In these examples, 1471 is the source & assignee contact ID, 392 is the target contact ID.

Cheers,

Dave J

Easiest way to check if it was fixed is to check the demo server - if not, that's definitely worth filing an issue over.

Yes I checked on drupal.demo.civicrm.org and old.drupal.demo.civicrm.org as I said:

Was just wanting to check whether it's a known issue that has specifically been fixed, as opposed to a problem that may still be in the codebase but that happens not to manifest on the current demo site in the conditions that I've tested.

Cheers,

Dave

SOLVED: Edit activity from search results link loses target contact in 4.3.8
February 11, 2014, 02:16:44 am
Found the issue in JIRA eventually: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-13638
Missed it when searching before because it doesn't mention target contact - I've added a comment so that it does now.

Cheers,

Dave J
