Can't mail to my imported mail db
February 07, 2014, 10:11:17 am
I recently upgrade from 3.4 to 4.4 :) and the process was a little messy but essentially I found that exporting and importing was the best way to go.

I am now set up and everything is imported. I have an newsletter mailing group of about 95,000 people. When I go to create a mailing and select that group, on the very next screen on the top right corer of the mailing options it says, 'Total Recipients: 28'

So, 28 out of 95,000? What could have possibly happened here? I thought maybe it was just a display error and proceeded anyway. But, yea only 28 people go that mailing. Any suggestions?

i may be sending you down the wrong path but in the db look at the civicrm_contact and civicrm_emails table and see if there is any pattern to the 28 compared to the 95000
eg i am wondering if in your import (how did you import) something got missed and has left a NULL where you need a 0 or 1

Pretty vague of me I know but it might help

Good call! Yea let me look at the 28 and see if they have something different. Thanks, I'll report back.

petednz, that worked like a charm! Compared a few different records and found that the ones that were sending had do_not_mail set to 0 and the rest had NULL... I guess thats no longer acceptable in 3.4+ code, so my import would have kept the null status. Thanks for the tip, seem to be working great now!
