Including the "details" field in Activity Report
February 07, 2014, 02:14:24 pm
I am new to CiviCRM, so please excuse any terms I may not be using correctly. I am trying to figure out a way to print a report that includes the "details" field in the "activity" entry. I know how to call up the list of activities that I'm looking for, I just can't figure out how to come up with a document or print out that includes all of the activity information (specifically "details").

To provide context: We are launching a program that will involve many meetings with individuals and organizational partners. I am hoping to enter all of these partners in the database and tag them with a custom tag identifying them with this program. Whenever we have a meeting with a partner, we will add a "meeting" (activity type) and enter in the information - most important of which would be a contact report in the form of a narrative. I am then able to call up all relevant contacts by searching "meetings" and the project tag. I would like, however, to be able to see a doc that includes a list of all meetings related to the project as well as the results (descriptive narrative) of that meeting. This would be an especially helpful thing to share with funders.

I've tried exporting to csv, but this does not allow me to export the "details" field either.

Thanks so much in advance for any insight.

-Adrienne

Hi Adrienne - if no one comes up with a civi-side solution I can provide some pointers to getting this on the drupal side using Views - ping me with a PM if this thread goes cold

Hi Adrienne - got your PM

Attached is a View that will show a line for each Activity of type Meeting. There are columns for Source, Target and Assignee(s).

NB if there are more than one Assignee i expect you will see multiple rows for that Activity.

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you need since I can't presume to know if this View should be starting from the point of the Activity, or the Person concernced - or something else.

I attached an image to give you an idea of what this looks like.

I set who can see the view to only Admins - so you don't get a surprise and end up showing this data publicly.

If you have the Views module enabled and are logged in as or Masquerade us admin ie user/1 then you should find the option at /admin/structure/views/import

Let me know how you go - hope the above isn't too challenging for you.

Pretty sure we submitted a PR to add the activity detail field to that report on customer request into 4.4.4 - and Dave G improved on it and put it into core

Have you noticed there is a (more) hyperlink in the details field?

Have any of you figured a way to get rid of it and display the entire "details" field in this report?
