searching, searching, searching
February 11, 2014, 02:27:01 pm
Yo!
I'm tying to find expired members who DO NOT have a certain tag. First, I tried the search builder - using !=, what I think is the 'does not equal' sign - but my results have all included the very tag I'm looking to exclude. Next, I looked into the include/exclude custom search. This option returned the results I wanted but I cannot export enough information for each record. Can anyone help me out?

Cheers,

Bobby

The search builder issue sounds like a variation on this bug: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6652

However, it sounds like you did the correct workaround.  Could you elaborate on what you mean by "I cannot export enough information for each record"?  After performing that search, you should be able to select all contacts, and then from the "-actions-" dropdown, select "Export Contacts" and export any info you might possibly want.  Is this the export approach you tried?  If so, what data couldn't you export?

JonGold: Thanks for the tip on that bug. Pretty amazing that the search function on this version of Civi is so limited.

So, when I get the results from my include/exclude search, I then select all contacts, and choose 'export contacts' from the drop down list. Usually this takes me to another screen where I can choose the information that I want. HOWEVER, in this particular instance a .csv file is immediately downloaded for me and it only contains the name and group id of the search results. I'm running a phone banking operation to renew expired members and I need quite a bit more info than that. Any tips now that new stuff has come to light?

can you add them to a new group from the Custom Search - then export?

Custom Searches have been contributed by the community and do not necessarily come with the full set of Actions you get from Adv Search
