Saving a registration form for later editing
February 17, 2014, 09:35:16 am
We are setting up a registration form for an event that is fairly long. We need to be able to allow registrants to begin their application, save it and come back to it later for further editing and adding additional information. Is it possible to set up a registration profile that can be saved, and then edited later before finally submitting it?

if you are on drupal this is more likely to be possible using the webform-civicrm integration - but if it is a paid event then the payment processor options are limited to those that process on the page (i believe)

but also, would it work for you to have people register - and then have a link that lets them come back to 'a' profile to update their info for 'contact data' - it wouldn't work for Participant Data - i think webform-civi is only way to get round that that I know of but others may have other suggestions.

Thanks. I was thinking of doing something like your first suggestion -  come back to a profile that they can edit as much as they want. I'm working on this approach now. It probably needs a field in it that indicates that the user is finished and it would be good if at that point the form could be locked - view only or something.

This is not a paid event, or even a normal event. The 'event' is actually a competition for secondary students who are being rewarded for community service. I've used civcrm for a few projects, and from that experience I thought it could work for this. I do keep hitting snags - like this one.

Joomla. I keep getting this error when I try to make a link to edit profiles:
'Profile search, view and edit are not supported for Profiles which include fields for more than one record type. '

I even tried making a link to a profile with one field in it and it still happened.

Any tips or advice appreciated.

are you including fields for more than one 'type' eg Indiv, Org, Memb, Participant?

And maybe update your own forum profile re your CMS

Hi
Thanks for that. I have figured out how to get what I need to work, at least for this phase of the project. We are a small company that has helped a number of organisations implement civicrm, mostly events management. I will have a look at updating my profile later today.
