Trial Membership without renewal?

I have seen a couple of people asking for recommendations on allowing a trial membership, but nothing that gets to what I'd like to do.

I want a contribution page that allows you to choose either a full membership, or a trial. But if they select trial, I want their account to expire in 30 days and force them into a full membership. I'd like to prevent them from simply signing up for another trial.

Is there a method or module to accomplish this?

This would be for a WordPress install, to further complicate the ask.

You should be able to set up a trial membership as a separate membership type. I do not think you can move it automatically to a standard membership without customization though.
