Advanced Search and Export error

Hello,

Recently, my team and I have been experiencing an issue with the advanced search and its export function.  We do a lot of on-the-road searching and geographically-based connections, so the Civi location-based search has been wonderful for us.  Unfortunately, however, when we do a location-based search and then try to export from the results of that search, we have been encountering an error.  After the search returns results (that part completes correctly), and we select "Export Contacts" from the options menu, that brings us to the "Export all or selected fields" page.  After we choose "Export PRIMARY fields" and click Continue, we're met with an error. The error says something around the lines of "Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment. No records to export."  We were wondering if we could get some help with this error.

can you try and see if you can reproduce this issue on our demo servers please?

I did try this, but 1, it was not the correct version (4.4.3); 2, I had to go into administer->system settings->mapping and geocoding to enable geocoding; and 3, when I did the search, I got a "DB Error: no such field."

For reference I searched for members of the group "Newsletter Subscribers" within 3000 miles of the zip code 60604

I've dug a little deeper with this issue and found even more interesting information, while still getting the same (lack of) result.  I was able to repeat it on the demo site (joomla.demo.civicrm.org). 

Here's what I did on the demo site to get the error (using Chrome browser):

  • I went to "Advanced Search" and searched for the members of "Newsletter Subscribers" within 1000 miles of the zip code 60604. 
  • I was brought to a page with 27 results, a reasonable result
  • Here's where it gets glitchy.  In the "Select Records:" field, I chose the "All 27 Records" option, and for the action chose "Export Contacts"
  • This brought me to the "Export All or Selected Fields" page, on which I selected "Export PRIMARY fields" and "Do not merge" in the merge options.
  • After clicking "Continue>>", it gave me an error saying "Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment. No records to export"


Interestingly enough, I did a similar search on the site I'm working on (version 4.4.4) in 4 browsers (chrome, opera, IE, and firefox).  The export did not work in any of them.  However, Chrome and Opera gave me errors, while IE and Firefox simply exported a CSV with ALL of the members of the group, not just the ones meeting the proximity requirements for the group.

I also tried this on older versions of CiviCRM, (All versions of 4.3.x) and had absolutely no trouble exporting contacts from an advanced search like the one I described.  When I tried in 4.4.0 and newer, that's when I encountered this problem.  The problem definitely arose in 4.4.0.
