If i have 5 groups that i wish to associate with a role why does it then assign all 5 groups to each contact record as the users log in?

I need to be able to assign all of the contacts that are in 5 separate groups with one role without it assigning those contacts to all 5 groups.

hi mike - can you explain this again

it sounds like you are saying
- if i sync Role M with Groups A B C D and E
- and if i add person X to Group A
- and if Person X logs in, then because they get Role M they get added to groups B C D and E

is that the outcome you are getting?

which I was about to say was pretty weird till i checked on wiki

"CiviGroup Roles Sync is a module that works with Drupal to keep Drupal Users with a specific role synchronized to the group members of the users' corresponding CiviCRM Contact. Put another way: the module will make sure that users with a certain Drupal role are in a corresponding civicrm group, and vice versa."

so yes it does sound like that is how it should work

must say up till now i had only ever used the module for synch civi groups to a role - ie put people in a civi group - they get the role

but if this really is two way - then it sounds like you need to modify the module to get the synching only working one way
