Turn on test mode

I need to turn Civicrm from safe mode into test mode and can't figure out exactly how to do this.  My IT people are out of commission and I need to test functionality tomorrow.  Any help is appreciated.

Not sure what you're talking about. Can you explain what exactly you're trying to do?
With a few exceptions (like test-drive contribution and event pages) CiviCRM doesn't have a "test-mode." When admins want to try out something potentially messy like creating/deleting data they will make a clone of the site and try out things there.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.
