Our society currently does recurring member billing with RegOnline, and the accounting is automatic.

What are the prospects for achieving automatic accounting with recurring billing in a CiviCRM setting?

Authorise.Net has this capability, and I expect Authorize.Net will work with CiviCRM fine if we simply enter the transactions into CiviCRM manually after Authorize.Net confirms the invoice has been processed. Automatic is better, is it realistic to expect we can achive it?

OK, I think I found my answer (Score!), and see that the situation is in flux:

Per CRM-2009:

"Support for Authorize.Net automated recurring billing has been added. Since Authorize.Net reports by email, there is also a script to be run from cron which will scan a mailbox and add entries for recurring payments based on these emails." permalink

This has not been verified for 2.0, only for 1.8. I look forward to giving it a spin on 2.0, and will give a report back when I do.

Any word on testing? How did it go? How does this Authorize.net Recurring Billing integration work?
