QR Code Payment Module Integration
February 25, 2014, 09:35:50 am
So here is the proposal that i am making with a company that is working on developing a new feature for me. Please let me know if you see any potential flaws in the process that i have thought out.

So the main issue we are looking at is lots of our members choose to pay by check but it is very time consuming entering thousands of checks into an excel spreadsheet and then imported in. We have the bulk of payments within a two month time frame. So what i propose is a QR code on the contribution invoice/email that includes a custom url that directs the admin user to a module that updates the payment status in the database from pending to completed.

The main issue i can see is that we need to enter the check number and assure that the payment is the correct amount. This is something that could be confirmed with a simple text box written into the module. I am not sure if anyone else has working on a project like this but it could be a major time saver for some organizations.

What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea for an extension, and having the QR Code URL link to a simple form with read-only fields for contact details (name etc.), and two editable fields for amount (pre-filled) + check number (to be entered) makes sense.

Please encourage your developer to work with the current recommended tools / architecture for building 'native' (CMS agnostic) extensions so that this can be shared with the community on the Extensions Directory.

I'll tweet this post to see if we can get some more ideas / eyeballs on it.
