I'm sure I'm missing it but my reading of the renewal reminder code left me wondering if not enabling  'Enable repetition.' on membership reminders would prevent them from repeating the following year.

I had thought this flag shouldn't be set in order to avoid sending multiple emails on the same day if you run it more than once daily (& my tests for unknown reasons suggest that not all reminders are sent in the first run - although I couldn't see any evidence of throttling - or of any particular reminder having crashed the cron.)
