Opt-out of public participant list

Currently CiviCRM can produce a public participant list based on a customisable template system.

However I was wondering whether it was possible for registrants to 'opt-out' of appearing on this guest list. If so that's great, how do we do this? If not, is it a feature which could be implemented?

Edit: Perhaps as another 'privacy' option on the Contact record? 'Do not include in public lists' or similar.

I imagine then that this functionality does not yet exist. So unless anyone objects then I'll add a new feature issue for it in the issue tracker. We think it would be a very useful addition.

Has there been a fix for this issue? Couldn't find the related issue.

Working with youth and parents make it necessary to hide participant contact info for specific people unfortunately (divorced, abuse, etc.) but many other participants and their parents want to get in contact with each other after the camps and events. Am working on Wordpress, so if it works on Drupal, we might even be persuaded to consider a migration.

I haven't created an issue in the tracker yet - you could go ahead =] If it was built in to CiviCRM core than it would work on any of the CMSes CiviCRM supports.
