Log of Transactions / Status

Sorry this might have been covered before and I couldn't find it in the logs;

We've been using Civicrm for a few months now, and we've ran into a few times where the authorize.net transaction fails (usually AVS), and we can't find any records of anything in civicrm.  Does civicrm report/log whenever it posts to a payment processor?  If so, where and is it possible to build a report for it?

If not, is it possible to do such a thing somehow?

I can't help with you query, but I can say that it may help others to help you if you update your profile to include your CiviCRM version and your CMS and version.

Following up on this, am I missing something as far as payment processor logging or does it not by default exist without turning on logging for everything?

I don't know how payment processors work in civicrm. But I would assume that everytime a contribution is created, updated, paid etc... An activity is created with the contact. So probably take a look at the activity tab of the contact and then use that (if there is any on a failed payment) to filter failed payments.
