How long might a big import take - say 15,000

Hi - anyone around able to advise on how long doing big imports might take - not sure whether it is useful to wait or if things have truly hung on me.

Importing around 15,000 and around 20 cols. 1.7 MB file.

My 'force quit' shows firefox 'not responding' occasionally but not permanently. Cheers

No worries - canned out of it - looks like it may have worked - fortunately i had downloaded the import error table before continuing so may be sweet.

I can't tell how long it took because it completed but hung - i left if for an hour but don't know if it completed in 10 mins or 59 minutes - have some more to do so will time it if it doesn't hang again.

At 256M mine hung at about 8000 rows.   I split the csv file into 3 chunks of 5000 rows and it did not hang.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

Cheers - thought I had already posted back on here that while my browser hung it seems that all rows were imported - just over 10,000
But will break in to smaller chunks from here on.
