Hi,
I am just in the process of implementing civiCRM for our national Permaculture organisation.
We offer a special deal of $10 for the first year for association membership to graduates of accredited PDC courses (some course provviders are making this mandatory, others optional). We will load the new contacts/members as a csv import. Normal membership is a sliding scale from $25 - $100 according to ability to pay.

I have created a PDC graduate membership type. Is there any way that I can force this to change to standard when the time for renewal is due?

Also, some course providers are simply building the sub into their course fee and wanting us to invoice their business for x number of subscriptions. I guess it is asking too much for civi to generate such an invoice, and we just do a manual invoice and mark as "paid offline" for those subs when we import them? Can civi generate bespoke invoices to a contact? (The organisation is not used to invoicing for anything, so has no separate billing system).

TIA
Richard

Hi

Don't know if you've resolved these issues yet, but thought I'd offer a take on it:

For the discounted first year for PDC graduates you could potentially use the CiviDiscount extension, thereby avoiding the need to force a change to a different membership type after the first year.

In terms of invoicing, this isn't something that CiviCRM currently handles. I think I saw some discussion about an extension (which would be great), but nothing concrete as yet that I'm aware of.
