Drupal 6 and CiviCRM 3.1 - Error after changing database password
March 07, 2014, 01:14:39 am
Hi all,
For security reasons I changed the passwords of database on my server and after substituting them in the files > settings.php and civicrm.settings.php a strange screen appears: Parser error etc etc..

I followed the following procedure to overwrite the files protected by writing before changing the password only (this password is the same both for Drupal and CiviCRM database):

CHMOD the "default" (sites/default...) directory to 755.
Open the folder
CHMOD the civicrm.settings.php file to 644
CHMOD the settings.php file to 644

substituted the password with a new password and:

Upload and overwrite the files on the server (FileZilla).
CHMOD the file back civicrm.settings.php to 555
CHMOD the file back settings.php to 444
CHMOD the directory "default" back to 555

P.S. I restored the old password an all is now ok

Is very very strange...

Any suggestions are welcome

Many Thanks

Hershel

If editing settings.php generates a parse error, this is a Drupal issue (not related to CiviCRM) and really it's just a PHP issue--you edited the file incorrectly, that's all.

For security reasons I changed the passwords of database on my serverFor security reasons you should upgrade to a modern version of CiviCRM! Your old version contains numerous security vulnerabilities which have since been addressed.
