Petition Results Summary

How can we get a summary of a petition — analysis data like number of signees, percent of Mailing the resulted in a Petition Signature, and results of the question maybe in pie chart form?

I can't seem to find any way to generate this sort of summary in CiviReport. I can't even seem to get column to summarize by answers. I just get lists of signees. Google isn't turning anything up, and even a search here for "Petition Summary" has one (poor) hit.

I suppose I could build something in Views... but that would be a pain to do for every Petition and it wouldn't be placeable on the dashboard.

Or are people pretty much using Webforms instead of CiviPetition?

That can probably be done in CiviReport. Pros: It can be added to the dashboard, Cons: Making a custom report involves PHP. You might want to ask for more details in the the Reports forum.

Drupal Views integration is probably going to be missing some of the relationships or filters you need for this report. This means you will probably need to do some programming if you go this route as well.

Another option is using a third report builder software such as Jasper Reports or Pentaho but these will not automatically be able to be added to the dashboard.

Signatures are activities, may be there is a report of activities where you can filter on activity type signatures  and get what you want?

Adding to the dashboard is good, but possibly not vital.

The end results should look something like this for a petition:

Do you drink coffee?
Yes. 123 votes (67%)
No. 32 votes (24%)
Zzzz. 55 votes (12%)

Show in pie chart form.

If custom reports can do this I'll learn PHP. =)

Honestly though this seems like the whole point of conducting a survey or poll and I'm surprised it's not already in the reports.
