Change civicrm database user from ROOT to another limited user

I installed civicrm using the root user of MySQL instead of creating a limited permissioned user. But now I realised I should not have given the root privilege. Is there any way I can change to a different user without messing up my civicrm?

You can change the MySQL user/password in the civicrm.settings.php file.  Make sure that the new user has ALL permissions for the database, including TRIGGERS.
