DB Error: value count on row
March 18, 2014, 10:18:00 pm
I see there have been historic incidents of this problem in different parts of CIVI (Events module). The post I read said the issue is fixed. Clearly it isn't.
Using Joomla 2.5.18
Civi 4.4.0

Can't print .pdf letters because I can't add images. So I try to export the contacts, and get the error message, "Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
DB Error: value count on row"

I don't know what this means. I know its something else broken, and wonder if CIVI really works. Very frustrating experience with a simple 'mail merge' process.
Appreciate any help with this.
John

Civi works for a lot of things, or else so many organizations wouldn't use it....but the more seldom used features can be buggy simply because it is free open source software and it doesn't get fixed unless someone volunteers to fix or pays for the fix.  I understand you are frustrated.  But all software has bugs, and open source is definitely not an exception to this.

No one may have told you this...but the larger the version number at the end of the version the more reliable that version of the software is, because bugs have been fixed.  For instance 4.4.0 is less reliable than the more reliable 4.4.4.  Over 100 300! bugs have been fixed since the version you are still using was released five months ago.  Try upgrading first.  Note: expect to update CiviCRM a few times a year for best results.

That may not fix the issue, in which case you will need to file a bug report with clear steps to duplicate it at the JIRA issue tracker.   We understand if you are not a programmer and cannot fix the bug yourself but this amount of effort on your part will go a long way to helping the entire project become better.   Please help us by trying to do what you can to be a part of the community.  If this arrangement sounds silly to you, then perhaps CiviCRM is not the software you should be using and you can try something else.
