Is it possible to extend the user permission for civicrm?

I was going to set permission for a user who can create donation but after that he is not able to edit them. but it seems that permission for civicontribute is as such that, if you can create/view them you can edit them too. Is there any way to split the permission ?

are you meaning 'create contributions' at the back end - if so, no way that i know of - I would probably look at whether it can be done via a Webform - ie make the people who can only 'create contributions' do so outside of civi
