Should Deleted Contacts with Cases be counted in Case Dashboard
March 20, 2014, 04:18:12 pm
current outcome on demo http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/case?reset=1
is that a Deleted Contact is still counted in the Case Dashboard  and shows on the Dashboard with nothing to indicate they are deleted.

My preference would be that Cases belonging to  Deleted Contacts should not be counted - what do others think?

Probably depends on if there are multiple clients on the case. If there's only one client then deleting should probably cascade to case. By cascade I mean put in trash, not delete in the typical database cascade sense.
If there are still other clients attached then yes should count.

Alternatively don't allow deleting contact if they are the only remaining contact on a case. You'd have to delete the case first.

Just noting it looks like this was partly addressed in https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-12726 in v4.3

But if the database had deleted contacts and undeleted cases from before an upgrade the undeleted cases will still be there.

Actually just noticing that fix doesn't seem to behave as advertised, at least in 4.4. If I delete a contact with a case with only one client it still leaves the case undeleted. Will do some checking.
