Out of Memory Errors After Joomla to Wordpress Civi Migration
March 23, 2014, 06:43:16 am
I have a 3.4.8 Civi install running on Joomla that I needed to move to Wordpress.  For some reason the installer wouldn't upgrade it to Civi 4.4.4 so I had to create a new Wordpress Civi instance and migrate the key data manually (contacts, custom fields/option groups/values, email templates and headers/footers, and tags).  Things seem to work, but I'm getting out of memory errors in places I've never gotten them before.

To summarize:

WORKING:
- Create new contacts
- Edit contacts inline & custom data in tab groups
- Basic contact search
- Custom fields can be added to profiles

NOT WORKING:
- Full contact edit (i.e. go to the contact, click "edit").  I get the out of memory error, but the update does happen.  "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in .../wordpress-backup/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Pledge/BAO/Pledge.php on line 252"
- Advanced Search - can get to the advanced search screen but running a search produces the out of memory error.  "Contact Source Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in .../wordpress-backup/wp-content/plugins/files/civicrm/templates_c/en_US/%%74/74B/74BBFF77%%Contact.hlp.php on line 166"
- Search Builder - can't even get to the search builder screen.  "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in .../wordpress-backup/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty_Compiler.class.php on line 1139"
- Website fields - migrating my website fields also created an out of memory error.  Adding them manually seems to work fine.

Except for the website field issue, these started after I migrated the custom fields (I had already migrated the custom field groups without a problem).

Sometimes those error messages change - different files and lines - but always an out of memory error.  I've never gotten these on any of my other CiviCRM instances.

I must have missed something in the migration but not sure what it would be.  Does anyone have any advice?

This has been fixed.  Civi is functioning as it should, turns out it was a memory issue.
