Hi,

One common complain I have is that the default interface has too many fields that aren't used (eg. SIC is never used for organisations here) and some extra fields are quite always used.

Albeit that's really easy to create profiles, they can't properly plug them within Civi.

What I do is to have a custom block "my shortcuts", with the proper links to profile/create and that improves things for the creation.

What I miss is :
- being able to change the default contact view with a profile view
- being able to use this profile to edit the contact
- being able to change the default listing on the search to have one with profile (ideally, having a profile for search only individual, one only for household and one for organisation)

Is there a way to tune civi that way ? are they hooks I could plug myself in easily ?

Thanks, I've been using custom profiles indeed, but my goal was not to replace standard templates (eg the contact/add could be useful for verge cases) but more being able to set a profile edit that is the default edit.

I have to look at how the configuration works in general, and see if I can add :
edit individual profile
view individual profile
edit org profile
view org profile

and modify the edit/view links if these are set
