I'm working with CiviCRM 4.4.3 on Drupal 7 and wish to use the Webform CiviCRM Integration module. After installing 7.x-4.5, the Description says it requires other modules, including Webform so I went for the latest stable release, Webform 7.x-3.20 (and collected the modules this in turn relies on!) but the Webform CiviCRM Integration module description now changes to:

Requires: CiviCRM (enabled), Webform (>=4.0-beta1) (incompatible with version 7.x-3.20), Libraries (missing), Options_element (missing)
For one thing it seems unsafe for a fully released module to require a beta release of another module.
Worse, although all the newly-installed modules are marked Disabled, the only module that shows up in the Uninstall list as available for uninstallation is Overlay.
Have I missed something? I'm now stuck.

It's fine to just install the currently available release of Webform 4.x, even though it's not yet at a stable release. If you can help contribute to fixing any bugs in the beta, you'll help get the stable release out.

These are different projects and different maintainers - co-ordinating releases between the two would probably limit what's available in Webform CiviCRM as it would take a lot more effort to track Webform's current stable in Webform CiviCRM.

With over 200K installs of Webform 3.x, that's a lot of sites that may be upgrading. I'd suggest you use the 4.x branch right now over 3.x if you're building a new site.

Thanks for the reassurance about the 4.0Beta, Chris, but can anyone help with what might be preventing me from uninstalling 3.20?

'Suggests' is a good, open way of putting it. I hadn't updated my profile, thanks, but have now: I'm definitely on the Civi 4.4 on Drupal 7.x side of the fence. Does this help?

oh shoot - you put that in BOLD in the first post - skim reading fail on my part.

but you DO need to be on webform 4.x

yes it is beta - and many many sites are using it

Rather than try to interact with them via the Drupal interface would just deleting the modules from your modules folder work?

Thanks to Pete, Chris & Joanne for your recommendations - I think this is now resolved:

It isn't clear from the intro to the Drupal 7 Module > Uninstall tab that if something isn't listed this is not necessarily a problem: it just doesn't need an uninstaller. To remove it you simply Disable it (on the List tab) and then delete its module folder using cPanel > File Manager and finally clear Drupal's caches.

Webform 4.0-beta3 is now on,. After finding some of the other Required modules of Webform CiviCRM Integration that have subtly different names and are not all in the full alphabetical Modules listing this one is enabled, too. Time to try a webform...
