Akeeba Backup 3.10.2 + CiviCRM 4.4.4 + Joomla 3.2.3
March 25, 2014, 09:15:01 pm
I'm trying to restore an Akeeba backup (of my Joomla + CiviCRM site) to a new server. I'm running into what I assume are the regular database errors. I've searched the forums and documentation for solutions and have founds bits and pieces of advice here and there. Can someone point me to a resource that clearly lays out all the steps for successfully creating an Akeeba backup and restoring it to a new server?

restore from the akeeba backup as you normally would. that will take care of the joomla config.
then review the steps here to update your settings file for civicrm:

Does Akeeba backup also back up CiviCRM?

if your civicrm tables are installed in the same db as joomla (which is the standard behavior on most joomla + civi installations), then akeeba will backup all the tables. but as indicated in this thread, when you restore from the akeeba backup, if restoring on a new hosting space and/or domain, you will need to follow the migration steps in the wiki (akeeba restoration doesn't update the civi config).
