multiple errors trying to install CiviCRM on Joomla 3.2.3
March 26, 2014, 07:20:43 am
I am trying to install civicrm-4.2.16-joomla.zip on Joomla! 3.2.3.

So first it was undefined function $jConfig->getValue in line 72 of /public_html/tmp/com_civicrm/admin/configure.php ... so I got past that by changing it to get()

$jConfig->get('config.db')

So I tried again. Now I am getting:

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SET = 1 WHERE IN ('civicrm','civicrmsys','civicrmicon'' at line 2 SQL=UPDATE SET = 1 WHERE IN ('civicrm','civicrmsys','civicrmicon') AND = 'plugin'

Has anyone else had these issues?

Why are you trying to install CiviCRM 4.2.16? The latest stable version is 4.4.4 and has a lot of bug fixes and other improvements.

Just following the links:

1. https://civicrm.org/go/download

2. Download CiviCRM from SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/

Hmm, "latest" is a Drupal version. I want Joomla, so that's not it.

3. Then there is a list of folders below it, and the newest is 4.2.16

So, where should I go?  ???

My mistake, sort of, 4.2.16 is still supported as that's the LTS (long term support) version.

However if it fails, just scan down on SourceForge a bit more, the third link is 4.4.4.

Thanks Hershel ... right in front of my face. One of those days I guess!
