our non-profit organization holds annual voting for board members.  Is this feature being explored for future enhancements?

Having just been through an offline voting process for our 'list ranking' process (whereby we decide the order of our 30-50 national candidates for the Party List - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_system_of_New_Zealand) I am keen to see us incorporate online voting for the next one.

yeah, me too.  It would be nice for non-profits to have some type of voting where they can also see the candidates profile.  It would be for members only.

Why not just use a "special" CiviCRM profile. Under Drupal, this would be pretty easy since Drupal will handle the authentication:

(1) Create the CiviCRM profile. Link to the candidate information or just put it on the profile page.
(2) Expose the CiviCRM profile as part of the user profile in Drupal. The profile only stays exposed for the duration of the vote. People can only access it after they have logged into Drupal.
(3) At the end of the election, turn off the profile (no more people can vote)
(4) Generate a list of all CiviCRM constituents and their votes. Discar any that might not qualify for some reason.
(5) Tell folks the results of your election.

I'm on Joomla 1.5.

I had thought of that, but I can't seem to get civiCRM working on Joomla.  It's too large the files and my server wont upload it properly.  I'm hoping after the Google Summer of Code that something handy might come out of it.

How would make sure no member votes more than once for the lifetime of the vote?  Or would you make it only one day only?
