Quick question on creating activities from within the case view
March 28, 2014, 10:16:20 am
In my XML file I define the custom activity types that should be available for a given case type.

When viewing a case, the only activity types listed in the 'New Activity' drop-down are those custom types. So my question is: if i want my users to have access to some of the built-in activity types (e.g. phone call, meeting) from this drop-down within the case view screen, do I simply add them in to the XML file?

  • CiviCRM version: Always the latest!
  • CMS version: Drupal 6 mostly, still evaluating 7.
  • MySQL version: Mix of 5.0 / 5.1 / 5.5
  • PHP version: 5.3, usually on Windows

Yep. In general use the sample xml as a starting point so at least you get the standard case activities. But meeting etc aren't in there.

You can also use File On Case to copy any existing activities to the case without adding the type to the xml.

Thanks for getting back on this.

The wiki information implies that that this is the case, but it's not totally clear, and I was concerned that including these activity types in my XML file might lead to problems. I'll add a note to clarify this for others.

My goal is simply to enable my users to have access to all of the relevant activity types they might need from within the case view screen, and not just the custom types.
