Using CiviCase to Create a Workflow for a Campaign (CiviCampaign)?

Is it possible to create a custom case with CiviCase that will integrate/connect with a campaign in CiviCampaign so that a workflow can be made based around the events in the campaign and automated? Or at the very least, a workflow that will notify staff members that are apart of the campaign of the events coming up and help with the process?

civicampaign is not yet integrated with civicase as described below

it is possible, but u'll need to write code and develop that functionality

Thanks for getting back to me.

Since I am still relatively new to CiviCRM and the only developer working on this project, could you give me a brief overview of what would need to be done in order to develop this custom integration or are there resources out there that will show me how to accomplish this?
