CiviCRM installs fine.  I get the screen saying that it has been installed.  If I then try to go to any of the CiviCRM items in the components menu I get:

It doesn't matter what menu item I choose.

I have also tried the manual install located in this forum.  I get

when trying to install civicrm_data.mysql.

This only seems to be a problem on my FreeBSD servers.  I have tried a number of them and all give me the same problem.  On my Kubuntu Linux workstation it installs fine with all of the same versions of the software (php, mysql, joomla).

I have the following in my php.ini file:

InnoDB is enabled on the server (it is by default in the port)

I just don't know what else to change.  Any suggestions?

It definitely is something weird with your database. I would walk through and check everything:

1) Were all of the tables created in your db (spot check)
2) Are they InnoDB tables (I know you said InnoDB is enabled; just confirm the CiviCRM tables were created with them)
3) Was the civicrm_option_value table created
4) That table has default data (as you've found with the civicrm_data.mysql file). Take a look and see if the table is populated with data. Looks like there should be 150 records in that table for the default install.

Try extracting just the data for that table from the civicrm_data.mysql file and importing it. If the whole thing errors, try just one row. If that errors, try dropping the table, recreating it, and then importing data. Maybe the structure is corrupt.

Because that table contains data for just about all of the option groups used throughout CiviCRM, I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks the application at any point if the data is missing or corrupt. So I would focus on trying to fix that table since it appears to be where the problem is.
