Imported contacts to CIviCRM - next step Drupal - how?
April 01, 2014, 04:34:51 pm
All,

I just imported ~900 contact records into CiviCRM. Process went quite smoothly. Now, I would like to create Drupal accounts so people can self-manage their records. The only instructions I have found thus far seem to indicate that I 1) install a Drupal import module, 2) export from CiviCRM into a CSV file, and then 3) import the CSV into Drupal.

Given all of the amazing tools people have built for Drupal and CiviCRM, this seems horribly clunky. Did I miss something or is this the best/only approach?

you can read about our amazingly clunky - add a Tag and have Drupal Rules fire to create a Drupal User ;-)

Pete,

Thanks for showing me this.

I think that there may be some assumptions in the documentation. Specifically, must the Workflow and Rules modules be installed for your module to work? What other modules, besides Entities, are also needed?

You are right. The blog doesn't say 'you must install Rules' but it does refer to it throughout and the screenshots show Rules in the breadcrumb.
Sorry I don't recall if others are required beyond Rules and civicrm_entities but skimming the Blog suggests nothing that isn't flagged as a dependency.

It seems that the Domain and Domain Rules modules are also needed. The former is beyond my skill level - guess I will manage the user migration manually.

Not sure - it was the one which was 'shorter', i.e., there was less 'code'.
