I'm having trouble exporting custom contact data along with contribution details and I'm hoping someone might be able to help...

We use a custom field for 'Gift Aid' that indicates that people are willing to let us reclaim some of their tax from donations. I can search for these individuals and bring all their data up on screen but (after much hair pulling) haven't been able to export this data from CiviCRM.

Basically once I've identified these donors in the search I'd like to export some personal details (name, address etc.) alongside their contribution amounts and contribution dates. Is this possible? I'm running version 1.7 with Drupal.

In 2.0 and prior, you will need to do two exports. a contact export and a contribution export. you can then merge those files on contact_id using excel

2.1 addresses this issue and allows u to pick various fields from each component report. i.e. you can pick the custom fields from contact you want exported in your contribution export

note that alpha releases of 2.1 is not expected till june/july at the earliest

I had a similar issue. The hack is pretty easy. See this post:

The post is with regard to custom field export with events, but there's an equivalent file for contributions, and you can use the same hack.
